Category Contest!

Want a wildsau.ca t-shirt? Of course you do. Stupid question, I know. Who wouldn’t?

If you’ve been reading my vehicle reviews, you’ll know that I’ve brought in some new blood in terms of categorizing my posts.

I have three categories that I currently use – my typical “Review”, and two newer ones: “Comparo” for multi-vehicle comparison tests and “Quick Take” for a slightly less detailed, quicker read.

It’s time to add another. I’ve been presented with several opportunities to drive (and review) readers’ vehicles, ranging from one end of the spectrum (1960′s 6×6 Deuce military truck) to the other (Porsche 997 Turbo), and a number of goodies in between.

I am so grateful for these opportunities and want to start taking these fine folks up on their offers when I find time and I thought we could use a new category for these reviews. They’ll likely be different from what I typically do when I tear a new vehicle apart – less exhaustive and probably more relaxed.

I thought of using “Reader’s Ride”. But that’s so old it farts dust, and it’s being used elsewhere frequently. Then it occurred to me – AHA! I’ve got readers with HUGE brains, influence and abilities – why don’t I put it out there, and maybe I’ll get an idea that’s ridiculously awesome!

If you’ve got a fantastic idea, post it in the comments. Pending on the volume and quality of the response, I’m hoping to pick a winner and the big brain that came up with it scores a rad wildsau.ca t-shirt which will be custom-created, haphazardly folded and mailed to you. Any size. Even big enough to fit the gentleman in the picture. I don’t care if I have to have this shirt made up at a tent and awning store, I will make it happen.

So….. what would call this category? Privately-owned vehicles, new, old, vintage, sports cars, military trucks, and everything in between. Show us what you got, people!

The incredible Photoshop work on that picture was done by my friend Rene Mayer, whose ability to give from the heart knows no bounds. Follow him at @Rainyfool

Oh, and if you’ve got something juicy I can take for a spin and share with my readers, drop me line at tom.sedens@

UPDATE:  The contest is closed – thank you everyone for having some fun with it and for the rad suggestions.  @ChrisinEdmonton came up with the winner, “Wildsau’s Wheelhaus”.  I liked the nod to my name, the reference to wheels, and the German spelling for Haus. Great job, man!  I hope you’ll share a pic of you in the t-shirt!

About Wildsau

My name is Tom Sedens - I’m a happily-married husband for over 10 years, father to 2 girls and 1 boy. I’m a vehicle/driving freak. Also - an outspoken guy, Apple fanatic, a geocaching addict and a seeker of justice for the people.

Oh, and I write about vehicles. I'm a member of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). If you have any questions, or if you have a vehicle you'd like to see featured in Wildsau's garage, please feel free to contact me. I love driving anything. Always have, always will.

    Some alternatives:
Readers Radiators (although this alienates those with Air-Cooled vehicles)
Mowin’ yer lawn… (this would allow for a wider range of reviews…)
Card Carry’ers Conveyances (your readers with speech problems would hate you)
    Devotee Drays
    Other’s Buckets-o-bolts
    Junkie’s Jalopies

Ok, I’m done. I think thesaurus.com has blocked my IP for abuse…
